The production of Methode Traditionelle sparkling wines, particularly near Renwick, from Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is also important.

Marlborough is also famous for its sounds, a  labyrinth of sea-drowned valleys, with picturesque bays, coves and inlets.

The Marlborough Sounds are a true scenic highlight and are easily explored from either Picton or Havelock. Sail, paddle, kayak or motor through this maritime area. Go on a fishing trip, swim with dolphins or dive to a shipwreck!
